Moving Ubuntu installation to a new HD

A couple of days ago, I discovered that the single 2,5" IDE disk containing the root file system of my home server had an error. I don't like errors on a device which is not duplicated. So I went out and bought a new (SSD) drive.

Instead of reinstalling Ubuntu, and thus remove all the config and tweaks I've made during the last couple of years, I decided to simply move the file system to the new disk.

Snow Leopard and java/gwt

After upgrading osx to 10.6, it turned out that JVM 1.5 wasn't available anymore. This lead to GWT refusing to run in hosted mode, which I btw. think Google ought to fix.

As with most technical/computerrelated problems, the solution was found on the web:

Works like a charm; now I can get back to work..

Moving day

For a long time (years) I've been hosting my websites at home. But after I've swapped my day job for a position as my own boss (read: freelance consulting) my needs for at server for development and testing has been more obvious. Thus I'm moving this site and other public sites to a hosting provider (because it's cheaper than buying more iron and more public ip's. And it gives me more uptime).
This site is now hosted at Gigahost, who has great subscription plan: One price, unlimited domains for web and mail, and IMAP access for mail.

Welcome to my new website, powered by Drupal, a very nice and simple cms. I've tried numerous cms's, and I ended up here because of the initial simplicity and possibility to add almost any desirable functionality later.
